The Acupuncture & Herbal Clinic is a Traditional Wellness Clinic where the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and complementary Western approaches come together to support the health and wellbeing of the whole person — mind, body and spirit.

For more than 2,500 years, Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, cupping and herbal medicine have been used to support health and wellbeing. Today, these traditional therapies continue to be explored and supported by modern clinical research across a wide range of health concerns, including fertility, pain management, stress, sleep, digestive health and general wellbeing.

Our approach recognises that every person is unique. By working with the body’s natural processes and the principles of Chinese Medicine, our practitioners develop individualised treatment plans designed to support your specific health needs and wellness goals.

At The Acupuncture & Herbal Clinic in Hope Island, our experienced team provides a calm, supportive and welcoming environment where you can feel empowered to better understand your health and take an active role in your wellbeing.

Chinese Medicine therapies

  • Acupuncture

    Acupuncture is a traditional, evidence-based practice with a history spanning over 2,500 years. Defined as “the strategic insertion, penetration, and manipulation of needles on the body for therapeutic benefit” (AAMCA, 2023), acupuncture works by stimulating specific points along the body’s meridians (energy channels) to restore balance and support the body's natural healing processes.

    It addresses both the symptoms and root causes of various conditions, making it effective for the treatment of both acute and chronic issues. Research, including findings from the Acupuncture Evidence Project (see References below), supports its clinical benefits. Acupuncture can also aid in disease prevention and the maintenance of overall well-being.

    Traditional Eastern Cupping

    Cupping is a time-honoured therapy used for centuries to draw stagnation to the surface and clear blockages that hinder the healthy circulation of blood and Qi throughout the body.

    By encouraging this movement, cupping promotes the reperfusion of tissues with fresh blood, supports fascia repair, and helps release muscular tension and soreness—facilitating the body’s natural restoration process (Bentley, 2022).

    TuiNa Massage & Cupping

    Rooted in the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, An Mo Tui Na—commonly known as Tui Na massage—is a form of traditional Chinese remedial massage that targets imbalances within the body’s meridians, channels, and organ systems. Using specialised techniques that stimulate acupuncture points and energy pathways, Tui Na promotes circulation, relieves tension, and supports the body’s natural healing processes.

    This therapy is an excellent option for those who are interested in the benefits of Chinese Medicine but prefer a needle-free approach. Plus, who doesn’t enjoy a deeply therapeutic massage?

    Lymphatic Drainage Cupping Massage

    Using gentle, uplifting sliding movements, this cupping technique specifically targets the lymphatic system to support and enhance the natural drainage of lymphatic fluid. By stimulating circulation and encouraging the movement of stagnant fluid, this treatment helps reduce fluid retention and promotes overall detoxification.

    Clients often experience noticeable results, along with the added benefit of deep relaxation.

    Cosmetic Acupuncture

    Cosmetic Acupuncture, also known as Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, combines fine needle insertion with Gua Sha and facial cupping techniques to revitalise the skin and enhance facial tone, texture, and overall complexion. This treatment stimulates collagen and elastin production, helping to restore facial symmetry, release tension, improve muscle tone, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and sagging. It may also support concerns such as acne, eczema, and scarring by promoting healthier skin from within.

    This luxurious treatment leaves you feeling refreshed and visibly uplifted. A series of treatments (typically around 12 sessions, followed by regular maintenance) delivers optimal, long-lasting results.


    Please note: This treatment is not health fund rebatable. Cosmetic and facial rejuvenation therapies are not recognised by health funds as claimable services, even when broader health benefits—such as the gut-skin connection—are addressed.

    Gua Sha

    Gua Sha is a traditional East Asian therapeutic technique that involves the use of a smooth-edged tool to apply unidirectional pressure along the skin's surface.

    Also known as 'press-stroking,' this method is performed on lubricated areas of the body to create controlled friction, intentionally producing light petechiae (small red or purple spots). This process helps release stagnant blood and Qi, stimulates circulation, and supports the body's natural healing response.

  • Reiki Energy Healing

    Reiki is a gentle ancient Japanese energy healing therapy that promotes balance and relaxation by restoring the natural flow of life force energy in the body. Through light touch or hands held just above the body, Reiki encourages deep calm, relieves stress, and supports emotional and physical wellbeing. Suitable for all ages, it can be used on its own or alongside other treatments such as massage to nurture the body’s natural healing processes.

  • Ear Candling

    Ear candling, also known as thermal-auricular therapy, is a centuries-old practice that uses beeswax-based, cone-shaped candles to support relief from a variety of conditions.

    These may include blocked ears, earaches, sinus congestion, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), swimmer’s ear, hearing issues, cold and flu symptoms, sore throat, vertigo, stress, and tension.

    Body Facilitation Therapy

    BFT (Body Facilitation Therapy) is an intuitive and integrative bodywork approach that combines elements of Positional Release, Belly Button Therapy, Ortho-Bionomy, Myofascial Release, Energy Work, Massage, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, and more.

    This unique fusion of modalities is designed to promote deep internal balance and holistic wellness.

  • Acupressure Massage

    Acupressure Massage is a therapeutic bodywork technique rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), applying gentle to firm pressure on specific acupuncture points and meridians to restore the natural flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body. This needle-free therapy helps relieve muscular tension, reduce stress, support internal organ function, and promote overall balance and vitality.

    Each treatment is tailored to your individual needs and may include additional traditional techniques such as cupping, which uses suction to release stagnation and improve circulation, and moxibustion, the warming of acupuncture points with herbal heat to stimulate healing and enhance energy flow. These complementary therapies further deepen the effects of acupressure by targeting underlying imbalances and enhancing the body’s self-healing response.

    Acupressure Massage is ideal for those seeking natural relief from pain, fatigue, digestive issues, emotional stress, and more—without the use of needles. Relaxing yet effective, this holistic treatment offers a rejuvenating experience that aligns body, mind, and spirit.

  • Dry Needling

    Dry Needling is a specialised treatment technique used to target tight, tender muscles and myofascial trigger points that may be contributing to pain, stiffness, reduced mobility, and muscle dysfunction.

    Fine, sterile needles are gently inserted into specific areas of muscle tension to help release tight bands of tissue, improve blood flow, reduce pain, and restore normal muscle function. Dry needling can be beneficial for a range of musculoskeletal conditions, including neck and back pain, headaches, sporting injuries, shoulder pain, and chronic muscle tension.

  • Moxibustion

    Moxibustion utilises the age-old therapeutic herb Mugwort. Burned directly (on the skin) or indirectly (needle head) it offers a beautifully therapeutic addition to your treatment and is used to warm cold, tonify deficiency, or disperse excesses within the body.

Dr Katherine LEitch

Dr. Katherine Leitch (Acu) is the founder and owner of The Acupuncture & Herbal/Traditional Wellness Clinic. She is a Qualified and Health Fund registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner (Acupuncture & Patent Herbs) with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Authority (AHPRA); Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (CMBA); and is a member of The Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA). Dr. Katherine provides a 20+ year nursing history including Surgical, Medical, Oncology, Plastics and Acute Burns Nursing (Registered Nurse, AHPRA).

Having highly distinguished herself throughout her Chinese medicine studies including Acupuncture, Cupping, Moxibustion and Chinese Herbs, Dr Katherine’s knowledge and experience in the health care setting allows her to offer a broad range of care. Additionally, trained as a Remedial Massage therapist and Dry Needling Therapist, her individual treatment approaches combine this comprehensive understanding of both Eastern (Chinese) and Western (mainstream) medicines, to award you with best outcomes in client care.

With a passion for integrating the body, mind & spirit, Dr Katherine supports ALL health presentations including Digestive Health, Covid-19 and Vaccine-related illness, Fertility, Labour, & Reproductive Health, Auto-immune Conditions & Oncology care. Dr Katherine has experience in treating all age groups, this includes pregnancy and newborns through to the elderly within a warm, supportive, and approachable space.
